  • Overview

    Maintains and repairs terminal operating equipment, fixtures, and vehicles. Fabricates necessary additions to facilities.

    Responsibilities

    1. Uses tools to repair operating equipment including pumps, valves, compressors, hydraulic systems, vehicles, and boilers.
    2. Organizes and completes preventative maintenance plan to ensure extended life of all equipment.
    3. Operates construction equipment such as forklift, man lift, crane and backhoe depending on the specific nature of the job to remove, place, etc., heavy equipment.
    4. Maintains adequate spare parts inventory to minimize down time of critical equipment.
    5. Acquires working knowledge of the wastewater system.
    6. While working with others, acquires knowledge of plant electrical requirements and instrumentation.
    7. Acquires knowledge of plant safety standards, including breaking and entering lines and vessels, confined space entry, lock out of mechanic equipment, welding, and emergency response actions
    8. Prepares material lists, manpower requirements, and tool requirements to complete job assignments.
    9. Receives instructions both written and verbal, setting the priorities for work assignments. Initiates own priority schedules for routine and backlog projects.
    10. Monitor boiler operation and perform analysis. Add boiler treatment chemicals as needed.
    11. May supervise a contractor crew to accomplish work assignments.
    12. Keeps abreast of unusual terminal activity which may affect routine operations of the terminal.
    13. Inspects new construction for correct, complete, and safe installation.
    14. Meets with vendors to acquire skills and knowledge pertaining to technology advancements, cost control, and alternating solutions to reoccurring problems.

    Qualifications

    - Education

    • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.

     

    - Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years work experience in equipment repair and maintenance.

     

    - Specific Skills

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to coordinate and complete tasks.
